The Wantsum Angling Association Currently have three venues, two of which are available to day ticket anglers. All Grid References are based on Ordnance Survey Map 179. 1. River Wantsum Our stretch of river runs from G.R. 246678 to 246694. Between G.R. 246678 and 249682 (car park) is for members only (up to the bridge by the car park) and from G.R. 249682 to 246694 is for members and day tickets. Car park access is available for members only, as this controlled by a combination gate Following a disastrous pollution in October 1995, we obtained a National Lottery Grant to restock the river with Roach, Tench, Skimmer Bream and some Carp, and have now completed the project. With the fish already stocked the river can boast the following : · Roach to 2lbs + · Bream to 6lbs + · Tench to 6lbs + · Perch to 2lbs + · Odd Carp to double figures Various other species including Chub, Dace, Eels, Gudgeon and odd Pike. 2. River Wantsum at Sarre. Although being part of the Wantsum system this short stretch from G.R. 253649 to 254648 (suitable for about 5 pegs) is slightly narrower than our main stretch. This venue is for club members only. Various species are present here and it is especially good for Pike fishing in the winter. This stretch is between the A28 and Old Road, Sarre and can be arrived at by travelling from the Margate direction and taking the first right turning after the mini-roundabout. Follow the road round until you arrive at the small bridge where the river is, and park in a safe place (narrow road). Fishing is allowed on the right hand bank only, looking towards the A28. 3. River Stour at Plucks Gutter. We have a stretch of the River Stour at Plucks Gutter on the same side as the Dog and Duck Public House, but a little downstream of the bridge. The actual stretch starts at the 'pump - house' and continues downstream to the first footbridge (approx. 26 pegs.) for members and day ticket anglers. Day ticket is only £5 - well worth a days fishing on the River Stour or River Wantsum. £35 Full Membership Compare that with other local clubs and try to find a better days fishing on your local Rivers.
